You want to discover Atacama without rushing through a checklist of places.
The route is designed so you can observe more deeply, share with confidence, and have space to breathe, talk, and enjoy.
- You want to discover San Pedro de Atacama without feeling like you are rushing through a checklist of places.
- You like the idea of traveling in a group, but you do not want to end up in a massive, cold, or disorganized tour.
- You care about who you share the experience with, not only which places you are going to visit.
- You are looking for a trip with respect, companionship, calm, and good energy.
- You want to experience Atacama with a well-designed route, but also with space to enjoy, talk, observe, and breathe.
- You like the idea of traveling with people who come with a similar intention: to live something beautiful, not just to do tourism.
No es solo un grupo pequeño. Es un grupo cuidado.
At Jatun Mayo Experience, we believe that a good trip does not depend only on the itinerary. It also depends on the people you share it with.
Before confirming your place, we want to get to know you a little, understand what you are looking for, and see if this experience truly fits you.
We are not looking for perfect profiles. Buscamos respeto, apertura, buena disposición, compañerismo y ganas reales de vivir Atacama con calma, capacidad de compartir sin invadir y una energía que sume al grupo.
Because on a trip like this, every person matters.
You do not pay now. We guide you before booking.
Hay viajes de los que vuelves más cansado de lo que te fuiste. Este no.
We designed this experience so you can enjoy Atacama calmly, with presence, and with a pace that feels good from beginning to end.
Because traveling in a group should not feel uncomfortable.
It should not feel like being part of a crowd.
It should not force you to adapt to people you do not connect with, rhythms that do not fit you, or dynamics that drain your energy.
A small, well-selected group can completely change the experience.
It makes everything feel closer.
Safer.
More human.
Easier to enjoy.
And in a destination like San Pedro de Atacama, where there is altitude, early mornings, long roads, cold, intense sun, and landscapes that ask for presence, traveling with the right group makes a big difference.
You do not come only to see Atacama.
You come to experience it with people who also want to do it well.
A route that unfolds day by day.
San Pedro de Atacama can be experienced in many ways.
You can do it by rushing from tour to tour, waking up early without really knowing why, collecting photos, and returning more tired than when you arrived.
Or you can experience it with carefully planned timing, included transfers, entry fees already considered, and a small group that does not come only to look at landscapes, but to truly experience them.
What makes this trip to San Pedro de Atacama different
It's not just the destination.
It's the way we experience it.
Small and selected group
We do not only limit the number of people. We also care for the energy of the group.
Like-minded people
We look for travelers with a similar way of experiencing life: respect, calm, curiosity, and good disposition.
A route with meaning
We do not add places just for the sake of adding them. Each day has a logic so the trip feels fluid.
Real guidance
You do not come to figure everything out on your own. We support you before and during the experience.
A carefully paced journey
Atacama has altitude, extreme weather, and powerful days. That is why the order of the trip matters.
Less mass tourism
We want the desert to feel special, not like just another line.
The idea is not only that you like the trip.
The idea is that you remember it as something that was truly worth experiencing.
5 days to enter the rhythm of the desert.
The program takes care of your arrival, altitude adaptation, rest times, and the group experience.
Day 1
Monday, July 27
Arrival, first breath, and initial connection
Group meeting at Calama Airport, with included transfer to San Pedro de Atacama.
This first day is not designed to demand too much from you.
It is designed so you can land calmly, meet the group, begin entering the rhythm of the desert, and feel that you have not arrived at just any trip.
During the afternoon, we will have a soft first experience to connect with the history, landscape, and energy of Atacama.
And at night, the sky begins to remind you why this place stays in your memory.
DAY 2
Tuesday, July 28
Valle de Arcoíris and group connection
On the second day, San Pedro de Atacama begins in a different way.
Colors, textures, history, and landscapes that do not need exaggeration.
Here, the group already starts to feel different. They are no longer just people who arrived on the same day. Trust begins to appear, conversations begin to flow, and the feeling of sharing something starts to grow.
Day 3
Wednesday, July 29
Altiplanic Lagoons and the silent strength of the desert
This is one of the most powerful days of the trip.
Wide landscapes.
Altitude.
Silence.
Lagoons.
Mountains.
That immensity that leaves you with very few words.
That is why this day is experienced with care.
Not only because of the beauty of the place, but also because of the altitude and the rhythm the body needs.
Here, the value of traveling with a well-designed route and a group that takes care of each other becomes very clear.
Day 4
Thursday, July 30
Geysers del Tatio: intensity carried with care
Tatio is an intense experience.
Early morning, cold, altitude, and one of the most impressive landscapes in San Pedro de Atacama.
But we do not want it to feel like a test of endurance.
We want it to be experienced with preparation, context, and support.
This day shows one of the reasons why we care so much about the group: when the day is intense, it matters to be with people who understand, support, and add something positive.
Day 5
Friday, July 31
Puritama and a gentle closing to the trip
The last day is not about rushing you.
It is about closing well.
After several days of landscapes, conversations, roads, and changes of rhythm, a softer moment arrives.
A closing moment to slow down the body, process the experience, and say goodbye to the group with the right feeling.
The trip does not just end.
It feels complete.
Everything we take care of so you can just focus on experiencing the trip
No fine print, no confusion, and no inflated promises.
Includes everything necessary for the trip to feel lighter, clearer, and better supported from start to finish.
- General coordination before and during the trip
- Guidance throughout the 5 days
- Transfers included within the program
- Excursions and activities indicated in the itinerary
- Park entrance fees included in the itinerary
- Breakfasts / lunches / cocktail or snacks according to the itinerary

- Small and carefully selected group
- Online pre-trip session once the group is confirmed

- Pre-trip WhatsApp group to start building community before arrival.
The idea is simple: you come to enjoy Atacama, not to carry the burden of organization.
We also prefer to tell you honestly which things are covered separately by each traveler.
That way, you can organize yourself well and make the decision with all the information on the table.
- Round-trip flights
- Accommodation
- Travel insurance
- Meals not mentioned as included
- Personal expenses
- Entry fees not specified
- Anything that is not expressly indicated within the program
We prefer to make this clear from the beginning.
Trust also begins by knowing exactly what you are booking.
1. Trip design and planning
Behind this experience, there is prior planning: the order of the days, selection of activities, schedule coordination, rest times, progressive adaptation to altitude, and the overall structure of the route.
This is not about putting random excursions together.
It is about building a route with logic, so the trip feels fluid and well thought out.
2. Coordination before and during the trip
It includes the previous management of the group, communication, schedule organization, recommendations, answering questions, and guidance throughout the experience.
The idea is that you do not have to arrive in San Pedro and improvise, compare agencies, or solve everything as you go.
3. Local guides and team
Part of the value covers the work of local guides and local people who accompany the experiences on the ground.
They are the ones who help interpret the landscape, explain the territory, take care of the timing, and make each outing feel like more than a simple visit.
4. Transportation and driver
The trip includes transportation for the activities indicated in the program, together with a driver.
This allows you to move with more order, comfort, and safety during the experience, without depending on improvised transfers.
5. Entry fees and permits included in the program
The value also includes the entry fees for the places defined within the itinerary.
This way, you can enjoy the main activities without having to worry about separate payments at each location, unless otherwise indicated.
6. Small and carefully managed group experience
You are also paying for something that does not appear on a list of inclusions: the care of the group.
Traveling in a massive group is not the same as being part of a smaller experience with like-minded people and a more human dynamic.
This format allows for more closeness, a better pace, and a more connected experience.
7. Peace of mind
In short, you are paying so you do not have to build everything from scratch.
So you do not have to coordinate providers.
So you do not have to compare tours when you arrive.
So you do not have to worry about schedules, entry fees, transfers, and logistical details.
So you can travel with a clear structure, without feeling inside an impersonal circuit.
What you pay for is not only the itinerary.
You pay for the design, coordination, team, logistics, and peace of mind of experiencing Atacama through a carefully managed journey from beginning to end.
In addition to the program value, there are some personal expenses each traveler should consider separately. We want you to have this clear from the beginning, so you can arrive in San Pedro de Atacama with peace of mind and no surprises.
1. Flights to Calama
If you are coming from abroad, the ideal option is to arrive in Santiago de Chile one day before and take an early flight to Calama (CJC) the following day.
For Monday’s arrival, we recommend using an early LATAM Santiago–Calama flight as a reference. Depending on the date, it may arrive around 7:10 AM to 8:05 AM. LATAM operates a direct Santiago–Calama route and allows you to check the updated flight status on its official website.
The Calama–San Pedro de Atacama transfer is already included in the experience.
For the Friday return, the transfer will arrive at Calama Airport at approximately 4:00 PM. For that reason, we recommend booking departure flights from Calama after 6:00 PM.
Important: do not buy flights until your place and the official group dates have been confirmed.
2. Accommodation in San Pedro de Atacama
Accommodation is not included, so each traveler can choose the type of stay that best fits their budget and travel style.
In San Pedro de Atacama, you can find:
Hostels and simple rooms: a practical and more affordable option.

3.Dinners during the 4 nights

Recommended budget for 4 dinners:
- Budget: CLP 60,000 to CLP 80,000
- Mid-range: CLP 90,000 to CLP 140,000

- More comfortable: CLP 100,000 or more.
5. Personal expenses and souvenirs
We also recommend bringing an extra budget for personal expenses.
For example:
Souvenirs, handicrafts, gifts, snacks, extra water, coffee, voluntary tips, personal purchases, basic medication, or items you may need during the trip.
Recommended budget:
Between CLP 50,000 and CLP 150,000, depending on your spending style.
Recommended total additional budget
In addition to the program value, we suggest considering an approximate additional budget of:
Tight budget: CLP 350,000 to CLP 500,000
Mid-range budget: CLP 600,000 to CLP 900,000
Comfortable budget: CLP 1,000,000 or more.
This amount can vary significantly depending on your flights, accommodation, and personal expenses.
The important thing is that you arrive with clarity, margin, and peace of mind, so you can enjoy the trip without feeling limited.
It is not about scaring you. It is about taking care of you.
San Pedro de Atacama is located in a high-altitude area, and some experiences go even higher. That is why the order of the days, the pace, hydration, timing, and previous preparation are all part of the experience.
If you have any medical condition, come from a low-altitude city, or have never been to similar destinations before, we will ask you to tell us before confirming your place.
First, we see if this experience is the right fit for you
Request your place
You complete the form and tell us what you are looking for.

Confirm your booking
If it makes sense for both sides, you secure your place with the initial payment.
Join the pre-trip group
You receive practical information and begin to get to know the people who will travel with you.
And that is okay.
It is not for someone who only wants the cheapest price, a massive tour, or to rush from one place to another.
It is for people who understand that the destination matters, but the way you experience it matters even more. For those who value a carefully managed group, a well-designed experience, and the possibility of returning with more than just photos.

Who accompanies you on this trip?
You’re not coming alone. You’re accompanied by someone who takes care of the pace, the logistics… and the group’s energy.
In a destination like San Pedro de Atacama, the easy part is doing tours.
The difficult part — and what changes everything — is experiencing it well: without rushing, without chaos, without feeling like a lost tourist… and with the peace of mind of knowing that someone has already thought through what really matters for you.
I am TONI and I will be your experience coordinator during these 5 days / 4 nights in San Pedro de Atacama.
My job isn't to give you facts. It's for you to experience Atacama with purpose:
- With a more human pace
- With well-chosen places
- With times that are actually enjoyed
-With a smooth and well-managed experience.
We also take care of what often no one explains to you about the desert: the cold, the sun, the altitude, hydration, and those small details that can completely change how the trip is experienced.
Testimonials from our travelers
Today I can only say: I'm so glad I went for it. I'm leaving with incredible memories, beautiful people, and huge gratitude for how they guided us at every moment. It was one of the best decisions I made this year.
Today I leave truly grateful. I went for it with fear and I return with a full heart, with stories, and with the feeling of having experienced Atacama in a different way. Thanks for making it so easy and so human.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) Is it a very physically demanding trip?
It is not designed as an extreme trip, but there are days that require waking up early or adapting to altitude.
That is why we take care of the order of the itinerary and guide the process so the experience can be lived in a better way.
.
2) What does selected group mean?
It means that before confirming your place, we want to understand what you are looking for, how you travel, and whether this experience truly fits you.
3) What happens if the weather changes or an area is closed?
In Atacama, the weather and local authorities rule. If there are closures or unsafe conditions, we adjust the itinerary with equivalent alternatives (viewpoints/routes/schedules) so the day is still totally worth it.
4) Why can’t I book directly?
Because this trip depends a lot on the group.
We do not want to fill spots without intention. We want to bring together people who can experience the journey well together.
5) Does the WhatsApp group start before the trip?
Yes. Once the departure is confirmed, we open a pre-trip group to share information, answer questions, and start building trust before the journey.
6) Is the hotel included?
No. The hotel is not included. If you like, we can recommend options based on your budget and style (budget / comfortable / more premium).
7) What happens if I don’t connect with the group?
That is exactly why we have a previous process.
We cannot guarantee perfect bonds, but we can take care of the intention, profile, and energy of the people who join.
8) Do I have to travel alone to join?
No. You can come alone, as a couple, or with someone else.
The important thing is that you connect with this way of traveling: small group, respect, calm, companionship, and good energy.
9) What happens if the minimum group is not reached?
If we don’t reach 6 people, we’ll let you know in advance. You can choose:
full refund, or
move your spot to another date / use it as credit.
10) Is it safe? What happens if someone feels unwell?
We prioritize safety and pace. If someone feels unwell due to altitude or fatigue, the plan is adjusted with breaks and responsible decisions. We always aim for the experience to be enjoyable and safe.
The way you experience it can change everything
You can come to do tours. Or you can come to be part of a small, thoughtful, and human experience, where the group is not a secondary detail, but an essential part of the journey.
Not to buy now.
But so we can see together if this group may also be right for you.
